Lion Anatomy
Of all the felines the Lion is the tallest one. They are very powerful animals with long legs and shoulders that are very strong. They have long tails with a tassel of hair at the end of them.

Lion Evolution and Subspecies
The oldest fossil remains of the Lion that we have are approximately 3.5 million years old. The do give us some information though about how the various species of felines have changed and diversified throughout time.

Lion Habitat and Distribution
The sub Sahara terrain of Africa and Asia is where you will find the Lion. They live among the savannah and the grasslands, often in areas where it is extremely dry and hot for most of the year.

Lion Feeding
The way in which hunting is done by the Lion is very different than for other felines. They hunt as a group instead of singular. They are able to create strategic plans and locations so that they have their target prey surrounded.

Lion Reproduction
There isn?t a mating season for the Lion but when there is plenty of food it is more likely to occur. The females are ready for mating when they are about four years of age.

Lion Social Structure
The social structure of the Lion is very interesting to observe. Groups of Lions living together are called prides. There is typically five or six females that live in it plus their cubs.
